Some of the toughest local mountain bike trails await you Saturday, April 4th, 2020 as the Brushy Mountain Cyclists Club presents this 9th Annual mountain bike endurance race. Online Registration opens January 25th at 9am & usually fills up quick so don't miss out!
Finally, an opportunity for kids to shine! Bring the swimsuit, the bike, and the running shoes and join in at the Paul E. Broyhill Wellness Center. Multiple age categories with varying distances: 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15! 2020 date T.B.D.
Celebrating the 45th Anniversary, the Assult on Mount Mitchell is a classic that shouldn't be missed! This 102.7 mile ride provides an opportunity to 10 rest stops along the course for you to refill, refuel, and make mechanical adjustments as you tackle the 10,357 feet of climbing it'll take you to reach the top. This event takes place on MONDAY, May 18th, 2020.
A demanding route, which showcases the mountain communities of Watauga County, North Carolina, requires over 9,000 feet of total climbing. Highlights of the route include a 21-mile section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a strenuous climb over the 4,500-foot gap at Snake Mountain, and a 10-mile "flat" on old US 421. This year marks the 22nd Annual, on Saturday, June 22nd. Online Registration fills up quick so don't miss out!
This isn't your typical cycling event. A Gran Fondo is a unique cycling challenge- both a personal challenge and a serious competition. Timing chips allow riders to compete for fasteset time during designated sections of the course, then they enjoy the scenery during the rest of the event. Why not give the Boone race a try on Sunday, August 2nd! You might get hooked and compete in the entire Gran Fondo Series!
Choose your poison on Saturday, August 22nd and participate in either the 102, 72, or 56 mile option. This fully supported ride rolls through the lesser known beautiful Blue Ridge mountains in Ashe County.
Also, taking place on August 29th...this 5th Annual Ladies ONLY event is geared towards expanding the community of female cyclists! With 4 route options available: 15, 20, 35, or 65 miles this ride is perfect for all ability levels and ages!
The 2020 Cycle North Carolina "Mountains to the Coast" ride is a great opportunity to see our state from the best vantage point. This year's ride will be October 3rd - 10th beginning in Sparta & ending at North Topsail Beach.
